DJI has finally now started pre-orders for its long-overdue drone accessory, the DJI Goggles. The first-person view headset accessory, which was first introduced at the company's Mavic Pro event last year, seemingly disappeared after it was unveiled. This had caused a lot of fans concern on whether or not the company could deliver on its promise of making it available to DJI drone users this year. Fortunately, DJI has apparently resolved all of its kinks and is now finally making it available for purchase.

During its original unveiling, the high-tech pair of goggles was perhaps one of the most exciting accessories for drone enthusiasts. The company promised to place users right into the pilot seat of their drones to experience the feeling of actual flight. The goggles were revealed to utilize the company's own OcuSync technology, which enabled the drone's camera to immediately transfer its feed to the device in real-time.

According to The Verge, the DJI Goggles will be compatible with a number of DJI drones, including the DJI Mavic pro, the DJI Phantom 4, and the company's Inspire series of drones. Users will be able to use two specific modes, namely, a high frame rate 720p resolution mode at 60 fps and a high quality 1080p full HD mode at 30 fps. During either of the modes, the latency for the camera's feed will only be 110 milliseconds, which is not really noticeable to the average user. Each screen on the goggles has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

The overall design of the new DJI Goggles is akin to that off the PlayStation VR headset. However, DJI's product is a bit bulkier due to the amount of technology that has been crammed inside. The headset also sports a large battery that allows it to be used for six hours after a full charge. Users will also be able to use the goggles to directly control the camera gimbals on their drones. This allows for a more immersive experience during flight, as reported by GSM Arena.

The DJI Goggles will retail at $499 and is available at the company's official website. Pre-orders have officially started, with the units scheduled be shipped late next month.
