HTC U a.k.a. HTC 'Ocean' made an appearance on the internet in the form of leaked images recently and as expected, a slew of rumored specifications of the device have now surfaced online.
The Taiwanese handset maker's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed HTC U has been subject to a bunch of rumors and leaks. The recently surfaced details about the HTC U suggest it will come with a dual-SIM version, will oust the 3.5mm headphone jack, and will have IP57 certification.
These shreds of information come from a Twitter user known as LlabTooFeR (@LlabTooFeR), who divulged the details via a tweet on Monday, April 17. If the leaked specifications of the HTC U are anything to go by, the upcoming phone will be available in both single-SIM as well as Dual-SIM configurations. Moreover, the device will feature IP57 certification for dust and water resistance. In other words, users can take the smartphone near swimming pools without worrying about random splashes.
Following in the footsteps of Apple, HTC might opt to get rid of the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack on the smartphone; however, this might not be a welcome move from the popular handset maker. The lack of headphone jack is still not a fad as far as Android smartphones are concerned and the trend is highly unlikely to catch up in near future, according to Gadgets 360.
Furthermore, the device is expected to run Android 7.1 Nougat with HTC Sense 9 running atop, and sport a 5.5-inch QHD display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Under the hood, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC will be firing up the HTC U, which is tipped to pack either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
The selling point of the HTC U, according to GSM Arena is the Edge Sense technology that allows users to have charge of several customizable actions with gestures they perform on the device's metal frame.
In the photography front, the purported HTC smartphone will come with a 16MP IMX351 sensor on the front and a 12MP IMX351 sensor at the back. Moreover, storage option includes 64GB and 128GB. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0.
In terms of connectivity, the HTC U offers Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The smartphone is rumored to be announced this month and hit the store shelves next month.
