While Apple continues to lag behind leading laptop brands, Apple fans have been clamoring for a 32GB variant of the MacBook Pro. This should give the iPhone maker a hint about offering something much better to its consumers in near future.
Apple has a reputation of hardly giving in to fans' demands; however, it may not make a lot of sense to release a state-of-the-art product that fails to sweep fans off their feet. Last year, Apple could announce a 32GB model of the MacBook Pro, but the Cupertino-based tech behemoth opted not to.
If rumors running rampant online are anything to go by, Apple might finally decide to answer their prayers this year. Multiple sources have been pointing to a 2017 launch for the MacBook Pro 32GB citing the unceasing demands and adverse reaction the current products from Apple have received. While nothing is set in stone yet, Forbes' contributor Ewan Spence believes Apple has something great up its sleeve.
While the term 'great' could allude to absolutely anything, this might come down to a few highly likely configurations including a larger RAM, a faster AMD GPU or an Intel alternative processing chip -- experts and fans have a different opinion about this. Analysts say a 32GB model of the MacBook Pro is long overdue since fans have been restlessly waiting for it since last year's edition.
A recently surfaced annual survey discovered that the MacBook Pro is not the best laptop this year. In fact, it ranks sixth, coming after HP and ACER brands with Lenovo grabbing the coveted no. 1 spot thanks to its quality, support, and innovation, according to LaptopMag.
Meanwhile, Apple deemed the 32GB RAM as avoidable and wasteful since the 16GB configuration is already quite fast. No prizes for guessing, Apple might not bring in such a radical change simply in response to fans' grievance, even if this means handing over the Best Laptop crown to Lenovo.
Aside from that, Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro that came with a newfangled OLED Touch Bar, has received a few backlashes amidst reports about the laptop hinge doing rounds online. Apparently, MacBook Pro buyers have been reporting a popping sound coming from the computer, according to BGR.
Users compare the sound to slowly squeezing a plastic bottle, which many claims come from the hinges.
