Xiaomi launched its latest tablet dubbed, the Mi Pad 3 without much fanfare.

While several leading technology companies have turned their backs on the fading tablet segment, Xiaomi seems bent on giving the once-favored devices another shot. Lining with this, the Chinese technology giant has launched the long-awaited successor to its second generation of Mi pad, nearly after a two-year hiatus.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Price

The new Mi Pad 3 has already been listed on Xiaomi's Chinese website, and as far as the device cosmetic appearance is concerned, it bears a striking resemblance to the Mi Pad 2; however, it packs a bunch of other hardware improvements.

The Mi Pad 3 comes bearing a price tag of CNY 1,499, which converts roughly to $217. The new tablet is currently up for grabs in Champagne Gold color option.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is housed in an all-metal casing, just like its forerunner. It has a 7.9-inch Retina display with 2048x1536 pixels resolution and 326PPI (pixel per inch) pixel density. Under the hood, a hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 processor will be firing up the Mi Pad 3, which also packs 4GB of LPDDR3 of RAM and 64GB of non-expandable internal storage, according to Gadgets 360.

In terms of optics, Xiaomi's Mi Pad 3 features a 13MP rear camera equipped with f/2.2 aperture and supports 1080p HD. The tablet's 5MP front shooter features a f/2.0 aperture too.

The Mi Pad 3 gets a robust 6600mAh battery, while the Mi Pad 2 packed a slightly smaller 6190mAh battery, which had an impressive standby time of about 867 hours. Unlike the Mi Pad 2, which was capable of running Android and Windows 10 (thanks to the Intel chipset it came with), a Windows version of the Mi Pad 3 might not be in the offing. Nevertheless, it runs MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow, GSM Arena reported.

On the connectivity front, the Mi Pad 3 offers GPS, Bluetooth v4.1, USB Type-C, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The tablet's dimensions are 200.4x132.6x6.95mm and it weighs in at 322 grams, which is slightly more than its precursor, but that's probably due to the larger battery it comes with. There's no word regarding whether or not the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 will hit the store shelves worldwide.
