Huawei Honor 8 was released in the US last year and its successor is set to be launched in Europe. Huawei's owned and sub company, Honor, is preparing the Honor 8 Pro, which is already known in China as V9.
It is said that this new phone is loaded with specs that would catch a tech geek's attention. In addition to Huawei's updated Kirin 960 octa-core processor, Honor give out a 5.7-inch Quad HD display. It has also a 6GB RAM and 4,000 mAh battery capacity, says The Verge.
Although these new features of Honor are amazing, its camera will remain as what its predecessor had. Honor 8 will still have a 12-megapixel dual-camera system. One camera is for taking images in RGB color while the other one captures monochrome.
With this system, the Honor's software will have the images processed and make it a single image resulting in a more detailed outcome. The Honor 8 Pro will also include a micro SD slot, dual-sim support, NFC, USB-C charging and a fingerprint sensor located at the rear.
Honor 8 is powered by Google's latest Android Nougat and even optimized by the Android kernel with its EMUI 5.1 system. This will allow an easy-open function for the phone's applications. The constantly opened apps will be detected by AI algorithms and it will boost the memory efficiency.
Still, Honor is testing 29 patent applications related to this feature but further tests are needed to be done in order to assure its reliability on a day to day basis. Compared to Huawei P10, Honor 8 Pro is a bit ahead in terms of specifications and costs lower at around $590. Honor has chosen rounded corners and matte aluminum finish for 8 Pro over a glass back, according to CNET.
It made the device a lot similar with iPhone 7 and looking at the two devices side by side, their footprints look the same. Another remarkable thing about Honor 8 Pro is its packaging. The devices come with a box that can be converted into a Google Cardboard viewer for VR.
Unfortunately, it will not be launched in the US, just in Europe and preorders are available. Honor 8 Pro will be shipped by Amazon starting April 20 and is available in platinum gold, midnight black, and navy blue colors. For feedback accumulation, Honor is set to have a beta program on its software like what Samsung, Microsoft and OnePlus did, reported Engadget.
