Huawei recently debuted its P10 Lite smartphone, but the Chinese handset maker had more aces up its sleeve in the form of another budget offering in its lauded 'Y' series. Meet the Huawei Y5 2017.

Huawei listed the new entry-level Y5 2017 on its official website without much fanfare. Nevertheless, the successor to last year's Y6 II smartphone packs an array of exciting specs and features for smartphone enthusiasts to delve into.

The Huawei Y5 2017 supports 4G LTE and will be up for grabs in various color options including Blue, Gold, Pink, White, and Grey. However, details about the device's pricing and the availability are few and far between at the moment.

The Y5 2017 is a Dual-SIM smartphone that runs EMUI 4.1 based on with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It comes with a 5.0-inch HD display.

Under the hood, a 1.4GHz quad-core MT6737T SoC (Cortex-A53) fires up the Huawei Y5 2017. The device will be packing 2GB of RAM, coupled with 16GB of expandable (up to 128GB) inbuilt storage, Gadgets 360 reported.

On the photography front, Huawei's new flagship smartphone sports an 8MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED. It features a 5MP front shooter equipped with LED flash and 84-degree wide-angle lens. Moreover, the Y5 2017 is fitted with a robust 3,000 mAh battery, which according to Huawei, works at 80% capacity even after 800 charges, GSM Arena reported.

In terms of dimensions, the Huawei Y5 2017 measures 143.8x72x8.35mm and weighs in at 150 grams. It also offers a slew of connectivity options including GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and 4G LTE. The sensors on the Y5 2017 comprise acceleration sensor, proximity sensor, digital compass, and ambient light sensor.

Huawei came out with its P10 Lite smartphone in March this year. The device runs EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The P10 features a 5.2-inch full-HD display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution and a 2.15GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 658 SoC powers up the device. It also packs Mali-T830MP2 GPU with 4GB of RAM.
