Asus' relatively new ROG G752VS OC Edition gaming laptop is now finally available in North America. The device itself does cost a whopping $2,500 for the base model, but buyers will be getting a lot of features for their money, including a full on Nvidia 1070 graphics card.
Under the hood, the Asus ROG G752VS OC Edition packs a seventh generation Intel Core i7 7820HK processor running at 2.9 GHz. Being an OC Edition, users will be able to easily overclock the processor and the GPU with just a push of a button. According to CNET, the i7 and the Nvidia GTX 1070 can be pushed quite hard using Asus' own ROG Gaming Center, essentially squeezing out additional performance from the already powerful setup.
The Asus website reveals that the base model will come with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, but users can opt to get up to 64 GB of RAM at 2,400 MHz should they choose to. The laptop also comes with a 512 GB of NVMe PCe Solid State drive paired with a 1 TB 7,200 RPM mechanical hard disk drive. The overall design of the Asus ROG G752VS OC Edition is similar to its predecessor, but with a few tweaks such as additional LED lighting on the rear of the device, as per Notebook Check.
The massive gaming laptop is also equipped with a 17.3-inch 1080p Full HD LED display with G-Sync functionality. The display also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother gaming experience. Being a full-on gaming laptop, the Asus ROG G752VS OC Edition is absolutely huge and weighs in at 9.5 lbs. The device's shape, however, makes it difficult to lug around as it will not fit in normal 17-inch laptop bags.
Some of the gripes that some users have about the laptop includes the overall quality of some of its components such as its sub-par touchpad. The keyboard backlighting also only comes in red. The sound quality of the built-in Asus Sonic speakers is also not very good. However, the majority of these issues are easily solved by accessories such as a gaming mouse and a headset.
