Nvidia recently gave their Add-in Card (AIC) partners the go signal to increase their reference GPU's memory bandwidth to as much as they can for their own products. Asus immediately took advantage of that fact and has now presented two GPUs that both feature larger RAM bandwidths than the reference Nvidia GTX cards they were originally based on.

As per a report from PC Gamer, Asus recently unveiled their new Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 OC and their new Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1060 OC. The upgraded version of the standard founder's edition 1080 GPU features a higher 11 Gbps bandwidth for its 8 GB of GDDR5X memory. This is a 1 Gbps bump from the 10 Gbps available on the reference Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU.

Asus has not yet announced the actual clock speeds for its new card, but as the OC label suggest, it will undoubtedly be featuring a significant bump from the founder's edition versions. Being a ROG Strix-branded GPU, there will undoubtedly be some emphasis on chipset cooling, which further hints that the card will indeed be overclocked by a significant amount.

The Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1060 OC also gets a big bump to its 6 GB of GDRR5 memory, which is now rated at 9 Gbps. The standard Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 only has an 8 Gbps bandwidth. Similar to the 1080 OC, Asus has also not yet announced its official GPU clock speeds.

Both cards will be coming with Asus' own custom three-fan cooling system that will reportedly also resist dust accumulation on the cards themselves. The cooler dissipates heat from large aluminum heat sinks that apparently have maximum contact with the chips thanks to large copper heat spreaders. All-in-all, Asus claims that their custom fans perform 30 percent better than the stock coolers on both cards.

There is currently no pricing or availability information yet regarding both GPUs but Asus is expected to reveal more details in the coming days. A report from Videocardz claims that both cards could become available as early as the middle of next month.
