The Xiaomi Mi Mix was the talk of the tech town when it was previously unveiled late last year. The Mi Mix's near bezel-less display design, with the screen occupying 91.3 percent of the entire front panel, became the benchmark for all upcoming smartphones coming out this year. Samsung and Apple have even taken down notes and are expected to follow suit in significantly increasing the screen size ratios of their upcoming flagship smartphones.

Now, a report from GSM Arena has revealed that Xiaomi may be in the process of developing the next installment of their Mi Mix brand, tentatively being referred to as the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. New 360-degree renders have apparently been leaked on the Chinese Twitter-equivalent website, Weibo, showing what the Mi Mix 2 may look like.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will look quite similar to its predecessor. However, there are a couple of key differences that will set it apart from the original Mi Mix smartphone. A closer look at the leaked renders will reveal that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will actually have a second camera installed. The dual camera setup will likely allow the unit to have similar camera features as the Apple iPhone 7 and other smartphones with dual camera setups.

Another big difference is that the bezels on the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be slightly slimmer this time around. A report from Xiaomi Today reveals that the next generation flagship will have a screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent, a slight bump from the 91.3 percent on the original Xiaomi Mi Mix. The slight increase is reportedly achieved through minimizing the lower bezel of the smartphone and utilizing the same technologies as the original device.

The actual screen size of the device isn't actually clear from the leaked renders, but some fans are hoping that Xiaomi would reduce the size to at least 5.7-inches this time. The 6.4-inch panel on the original Xiaomi Mi Mix was considered to be too large for most users. Xiaomi has yet to reveal when they would be unveiling the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, but fans are hoping that the unit would be coming to markets outside of China when it is made available.
