Xiaomi is on the verge of taking the budget smartphone segment in India by storm with its new Redmi 4A.

Xiaomi's Redmi series of smartphones has been very well received in India. Apparently, it's all about offering the best 'value for money' for the popular Chinese handset maker. Lining with this, Xiaomi has rolled out smartphones such as the Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime, and the latest in this lineup is the Redmi Note 4.

In just 45 days, Xiaomi reportedly sold more than a million units of the Redmi Note 4, and now, the tech firm plans to sell 7 million units in 2017. Xiaomi is all set to take things to the next level with another budget offering for Redmi lineup's huge consumer base in India.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A Price In India

Dubbed as the Redmi 4A, Xiaomi's upcoming smartphone will come bearing a low price tag of INR 5,999 (about $91) in order to lure budget-conscious buyers who are looking for smartphones with a right balance of specs, efficiency and, needless to say, the price.

It's worth noting that these 'value for money' low-cost smartphones start somewhere around INR 7,000 ($106), for instance, Moto E3 Power, Lenovo Vibe K5, and the Xiaomi Redmi 3s. Consumers looking to purchase smartphones under this aforesaid budget are compelled to settle for smartphones from manufacturers such as Lava, Xolo, and Intex, BGR reported.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A India Release Date

Those looking to get hold of Xiaomi Redmi 4A (Dark Grey and Gold) should head to Amazon India and Mi.com on Thursday, March 23. The sale kicks off 12 p.m. IST.

The Rose Gold iteration of the Redmi 4A will hit the store shelves on April 6, but it will be exclusively sold on Mi.com. Xiaomi Redmi 4A will not be available offline.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A Specs & Features

The Redmi 4A will be housed in a polycarbonate body. The device will come with a hybrid dual-SIM card slot and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 running on top.

The Redmi 4A boasts a 5-inch HD display with 720x1280 pixels resolutions. Under the hood, the device packs a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC with the Adreno 308 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM.

In the photography front, the Redmi 4A sports a 13MP f/2.2 rear sensor with PDAF, a 5MP front shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. The Redmi 4A has 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128Gb using a microSD card, according to Gadgets360.

In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 4A offers a slew of options including Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and 4G VoLTE. Aside from that, the Redmi 4A comes with bevies of sensors including proximity, infrared, gyroscope, ambient light, and accelerometer.

As far as dimensions of the Xiaomi Redmi 4A are concerned, they are 139.5x70.4x8.5mm. The device weighs in at 131.5 grams. It packs a robust 3120mAh battery equipped with fast charging support.

According to Xiaomi, the Redmi 4A is the largest smartphone brand that's currently up for grabs via an online sale in India, with a considerable 30 percent share in the market.

In other news, Xiaomi has come out with another manufacturing plant in Foxconn-owned-and-operated Sricity, in India. Thanks to this second plant, Xiaomi will now be able to roll out one smartphone every minute.

It can be recalled that the Xiaomi Redmi 4A debuted in China back in November along with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime as well as the entry-level version of the Redmi 4 series.
