Google's alleged Pixel successor, Google Pixel 2 2017, has been subject to a slew of speculations as the rumor mill continues to churn all sorts of theories around the purported device's release date, specs, price, and design.
In line with this, multiple sources have already confirmed that the new flagship smartphone from Google dubbed, the Google Pixel 2 2017, will boast camera of higher rank. While the search giant has yet to rubber-stamp these rumors, it looks like another equally baseless sneaking suspicion has found its way on the internet.
Following in the footsteps of some top-notch handset makers, 9to5Google claims that the 2017 iteration of Google's Pixel phone will oust the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. The publication cited some internal Google document it managed to acquire.
While the website refrains from divulging the nature of the said document or even alluding to anything that hints at the jackless Pixel 2 2017, it claims the wording used in the document point to the elimination of the jack. Although this shred of information allegedly comes from the horse's mouth, readers are advised to take it with a grain of salt as this may be an idea that the company is merely in consideration of for its next flagship smartphone.
Furthermore, when asked about this shot in the dark that's running rampant online, a Google spokesperson told CNET that the company does not comment on rumors.
Google Pixel 2 2017 Specifications, Price & Other Details
There's word floating around that the Google Pixel 2 2017 flagship smartphone will feature a better camera and pack more powerful processor, and as a result, the device could come bearing a steep price tag of INR 57,000 (about $855). During an event at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017, the company's head of hardware Rick Osterloh confirmed that the new Pixel smartphone will be part of its premium segment just like the current generation Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
Osterloh did not shed more light on the exact release window for Google Pixel 2 2017; however, he told BGR India that the company will stick to the yearly flagship launch time frame, meaning, smartphone lovers will be able to get their hands on the new Google device in Oct. 2017.
Under the hood, the new Pixel smartphone is likely to employ two different manufacturers. While some reports suggest that a Snapdragon 83X chipset will be firing up the next Pixel device, other sources claim that Google will go for an Intel processor. There's also hearsay that Google will team up with MediaTek for its highly anticipated Google Pixel 2 2017.
Meanwhile, Google is reportedly hard at works on a custom chipset for an unnamed test device but, it remains to be seen if Google will use the same chipset to power the Google Pixel 2 2017.
