Showrunner Ryan Murphy has previously disclosed his plans for the seventh season of the anthology horror series "American Horror Story" that it will be about the 2016 election, which made headlines given the fact that the election is still quite a big deal at the moment. Fans have expected that they will see the portrayal of President Donald Trump and his presidential opponent Hillary Clinton but it appears that it's not going to happen.
Recalling Murphy's appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Feb. 15, Cohen asked him whether or not President Donald Trump will be part of the character portrayals in "American Horror Story" season 7, Murphy only answered ‘maybe'. However, it looks like it's not the case according to IndieWire as he already clarified during the Publicists Guild Awards Luncheon in Beverly Hills that Trump and Clinton are not one of the characters in the series.
"The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories. You will not see [Donald] Trump and [Hillary] Clinton as characters on the show," he said. He went on to explain that he was carried away during his appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" and he may have consumed too much martinis.
Murphy also told the Hollywood Reporter that "American Horror Story" season 7 wouldn't be just the single-minded viewpoint but to express all sides of the equation where people should listen to each other in spite of not understanding each other at times. He also said that he's developing about illuminating and highlighting those people who can't voice out their opinion and those who are being ignored by the current administration.
Murphy went on to say that "American Horror Story" season 7 will also be about those people who feel that their lives are being threatened and that he's using his financial means to give back to them. Nonetheless, fans are now eager to know how he could translate the 2016 election into "American Horror Story" season 7.
