Last week the Finnish smartphone maker Nokia announced its first Windows Phone 8 run handsets, the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. Now, good news awaits Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900 owners as Nokia has announced new features for the handsets.
Nokia Web site confirmed that "existing Lumia owners also have plenty to look forward to and are definitely not being left behind." Furthermore "current Lumia range of smartphones will continue to be supported by Nokia with a new updated user interface, new features, apps and upgrades."
Nokia plans to deliver updates to the Smart Group Shot and Cinemagraph applications for the current Lumia devices. These applications will offer enhanced photo shooting and sharing experience to the users. Nokia will also deploy new features for all Lumia devices like a new Start screen look and feel, which will be similar to Windows Phone 8 operating system. Nokia will also offer a ringtone maker app (in selected regions only), a new application for sharing contacts via Bluetooth, and a new Bluetooth file transfer app to the Lumia smartphones.
"The rollout of these updates for the Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 smartphones will be phased, and we will share more details closer to the start of delivery," claims the Nokia Web site.
With the announcement of new features on a slew of Lumia devices, it seems that Nokia is aiming to win major brownie points from current Lumia handset owners. Time will tell if the new features appeals to the current Lumia device users and increases their loyalty towards the brand.
