Will "Bill and Ted" fans finally get to see the third movie in the time-travelling comedy film franchise? Keanu Reeves (who portrayed Ted "Theodore" Logan) recently gave Graham Norton, the host of "The Graham Norton" show, updates on "Bill and Ted 3."
According to SyFy Wire, Keanu Reeves told host Graham Norton that "Bill and Ted 3" film, will have a "cool story. The actor added that the two characters are "supposed to write a song to save the world, and they haven't done that ... But then someone comes from the future and tells them if they don't write the song, it's not the world now, it's the universe. So they have to save the universe because time is breaking apart."
"Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" first aired in 1989, and the film was about "two slackers travel through time to assemble a menagerie of historical figures for their high school history presentation." The sequel "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" followed in 1991, and it focused on a "tyrant from the future creates evil android doubles of Bill and Ted and sends them back to eliminate the originals."
Reeves also teased that both Bill and Ted will be "in their 50s," which he thinks is incredibly funny. However, the actor has been talking about the third film since 2010, and the sequel's shooting schedule still hasn't been finalized.
Metro Online added that according to Reeves, "the film's return is being held up by the 'business' side of things." He continued, "'Bill & Ted 3' is right now stuck in show business land so creatively we're good to go but in the business sense, the rights and all of the complications and contracts that need to be made are not."
In the meantime, the actor said that they are working hard to "get the story line perfect while all the business is dealt with." Reeves also told Metro Online that the team behind "Bill and Ted 3" are slowly working their way to making the film a reality. The actor said, "We're working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we'll try and make this picture."
Meanwhile, Alex Winter, who plays William "Bill" Preston, Esq. in the films, allegedly told Forbes in 2016 that "everything was ready to go." Winter also said, "The short answer is yes. I can't really go further than that other than to say some people are going to returning from the original by the fact that they're in it. There will be new people because obviously, sadly, Rufus (George Carlin) isn't around anymore and they will be interesting actors too."
