"Criminal Minds" Season 12 recently showed Matthew Gray Gubler's Reid-centric episode titled "Spencer." While the FBI's BAU will be determined to help Reid, showrunner Erica Messer teases that this story arc will be even more "heightened" in the upcoming episodes all the way through the finale.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 spoilers reveal that Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) dilemma will be even more intense in the upcoming episodes. As TVLine recaps, Reid became a suspect of murder after transacting with a doctor named Rosa Medina, who was supplying him with drugs for his mother, Diana.
The BAU tried to help Reid, but they learned that they cannot offer legal support for Reid because what he did was not a business transaction. However, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 spoilers from showrunner Erica Messer reveal that the BAU will continue to find ways to help Reid, reports TVGuide.com.
"Criminal Minds" Season 12 spoilers tease that Reid will be able to find legal help from Fiona Duncan, a friend of Prentiss. The showrunner also shared that Reid's dilemma will continue all the way through the finale.
"This dilemma of Reid's will get heightened every week until we get to the end of the season," she said.
Messer further teased the involvement of Mr. Scratch with Reid's dilemma and added that he will be "a big player" in the remaining episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Meanwhile, Carter Matt notes on the possibility that Reid will find a love interest.
While a love interest may not be anywhere near Reid's horizon in the meantime given his current dilemmas, the publication notes that Reid deserves to have a love interest. There is no character in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 yet that seemingly fits him as a romantic partner, but the CBS drama can certainly look into introducing a new female character for Reid in the future.
