The Taiwanese company ASUS rolled out its two new Windows 8 tablets, which were previously unveiled at Computex in June 2012. The ASUS Vivo Tab and ASUS Vivo Tab RT, formerly known as the ASUS Tablet 810 and ASUS Tablet 600 respectively, are expected to hit the shelves in October.
ASUS Vivo Tab
The ASUS Vivo Tab features an 11.6-inch IPS+ display with 1366x768 resolution and delivers high visual clarity both indoors and outdoors. The Wacom digitizer technology stylus, offering high precision writing and drawing capabilities, compliments the capacitive touch 10-point multi-touch display.
The Asus Vivo Tab comprises an upcoming Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM and offers on-board storage capacity of 64GB. The Windows 8 Vivo Tab will have a detachable QWERTY keyboard dock, which also provides two full size USB ports and a secondary battery.
The Near Field Communication-enabled Vivo Tab is 8.7mm thick and weighs 675 grams. The SonicMaster technology used in the Vivo Tab delivers superlative sound quality. The device sports an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.
ASUS Vivo Tab RT
The Vivo Tab RT sports a 10.1-inch display with 1366x768 resolution. Just like the Vivo Tab, the presence of Super IPS+ technology provides users with high display clarity both indoors and outdoors.
The device features the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 12-core GPU for high quality mobile graphics performance. Unlike the Vivo Tab, the Vivo Tab RT has a 32GB on-board storage option. Similar to the Vivo Tab, the Windows RT runs Vivo Tab RT and will also have a full QWERTY keyboard dock, track pad, USB port, and built-in battery.
The ASUS Vivo Tab RT has a slim and light profile that is 8.3mm thin and weighs 520gms. The Vivo Tab RT supports NFC and has the same high quality front and rear cameras as the Vivo Tab, making it an all-round entertainment device.
Both the Vivo Tab and Vivo Tab RT pack high-end features, but with other tablet makers offering devices with similar features, time will tell if Asus's new tablets are successful enough to grab a hefty chunk of the market share.
