Bandai Namco's "Dark Souls III" might be ranked as one of the most unforgiving games to date. The game is quite a handful and holds the tradition of previous "Dark Souls" titles. There are at least 19 enemy bosses, not to mention the enormous optional boss, the Ancient Wyvern. You can find this beast in the Arachdragon peak.

Aside from its imposing size and powerful fire breath, it's quite a challenge to defeat. But there are ways to beat the Ancient Wyvern. With a bit of luck and persistence, you can definitely beat this bad-ass Wyvern and take a large number of souls.

How To Beat The Ancient Wyvern on "Dark Souls 3"

Before entering the fog in, here's some basic information on its weaknesses. The Ancient Wyvern is weak to lightning and frost but is strong against toxic and bleed damage. The wyvern's weak spot is its head and doing a plunging attack on the head would kill it with one blow.To put you in a position to do this, equip your best fireproof shield and a nice light armor for sprinting.

As you enter the fog, the best thing to do is to run past it. The wings won't do you any harm. Turn left at the top of the stairs and run or roll past the two dragon hybrids guarding the door. Turn left again and run past another pair of dragon hybrids. You'll come across a T-junction, turn right and check if there's a trail of hybrids chasing you. If not, proceed at the far end of this room.

The Wyvern's fire breath won't reach this part of the area and the hybrids won't be able to follow you up to this point. There will be another pair of dragon hybrids as you as you make your way through the curving stairs. Be careful; the other hybrid would jump on you as you cross the threshold.

At the top, there will be another set of dragon hybrids waiting for you. You might as well deal with them or run along. The bridge ahead might be the hardest part of the stage. There is a sniping dragon hybrid behind and above you. There is also another set of enemies ahead, a giant dragon hybrid and another sniping hybrid.

Venturing too close to the bridge might make you susceptible to the fire breath. The best thing to do is snipe the enemies ahead. When they are down, sprint across or roll to prevent the sniping hybrid dragon from behind. On the other side, there is only one more dragon hybrid.

It is still your choice to kill it or directly climb the ladder. Before running on the wooden platform it is wise to check out the perimeter first. Pause and raise your shield if the Ancient Wyvern is attacking via fire breath.

From the wooden scaffoldings, you can drop down to the stone ledge on the left. It will be marked with messages even if you are offline. In the ledge, you won't be affected with the fire breath.

You can snipe and kill the Ancient Wyvern, aim for the head to do extra damage. To kill the boss with one blow, wait for it to lower its head and time your plunging attack. Missing an attack might make you take the route again. If you ran all the way up the ledge you might have to face the dragon hybrids again.
