Samsung is trying to bring back that Windows 7 feeling in Windows 8 with its S Launcher Widget in the company's newest Windows 8 laptops. The interesting thing about this widget is its similarity to the Apple launcher widget on Mac Computers, especially after the huge court loss Samsung recently suffered at the hands of Apple.
By clicking on the S Launcher icon, users can begin using the start menu similar to the same way they would use Windows 7. Samsung is known for doing its own thing by making drastic changes to an operating system, which are often not in line with its design.
Microsoft will most likely not be happy with this move by Samsung, since the software company has been working hard to persuade users to get used to Windows 8 without the Start Menu interface. Microsoft probably expected this to happen. Other third-party launchers are available for Windows 8, some of which no longer work after Microsoft updated Windows 8 to block these apps.
Microsoft claims that users no longer have any use for the Start Button and Start Menu, so the company replaced it with the new Windows 8 Start Menu, based on a tiled user interface. Users and critics has been hitting back hard, but Microsoft is sticking to its guns.
