A sleep tracking app is one of the most sought after functionality of the watchOS by its users, but has yet to be implemented by Apple. Fortunately, third party developers have created one of its own, the AutoSleep.
According to 9to5Mac, the AutoSleep app basically tracks your sleep with your Apple Watch by simply wearing the device while you sleep. Download the app and input some information about yourself and by doing so, the app will be able to give details about your sleep every morning such as how long have you been awake in bed, your average heart rate, how long you spent in deep sleep and how restful your sleep was.
However, some users don't prefer to wear the device while sleeping mainly because of its battery life. A way around this problem is by taking off the Apple Watch 30 minutes before going to bed then putting it back on before you lay down. Moreover, AutoSleep has an option to track your sleep without wearing the device, although it won't give you the same level of details of information that it would if you have worn the device while you sleep.
There are other alternative apps that you can use that may give you detailed information without having to wear the device. Most of these apps work by tracking your movement during the night while your device is on your bed. See the alternative apps below:
In time, Apple will have sleep tracking functionality once the company improves the watch's battery life. For the meantime, AutoSleep is now available for download in the App store for $2.99.
