"Arms," a colorful motion-controlled boxing game for the Nintendo Switch, could be the best game so far for the hybrid console, as featured on Mirror. Here are the reasons why.
"Arms" is like a combination of Wii Boxing and "Street Fighter"
Although frustrating at times, according to The Verge, this fighting game seems to be easy enough to learn. You control a character with spring-loaded boxing gloves and use the Joy-Cons to move and jab. You maneuver your character by moving the Joy-Cons side to side or use the buttons to dodge, jump or unleash ultimate attacks.
This game is like "Wii Boxing" and "Street Fighter," the popular fighting game from Capcom, put together. This makesit so much fun as the playable characters from the demo have its own unique playstyles. For instance, Master Mummy is a character that can take extra hits, Mechanica can float with its booster jets and Spring Girl can jump higher than the other characters in the game.
A Possible Entry for ESport Tournaments
This could be a popular ESport game that can be used for tournaments because it has strategic depth. Unlike "Wii Bowling" where players could get a strike with every throw, "Arms" is different because you need to have a strategy to win.
Nintendo was not very successful with games like "Pokken Tournament" entering the ESport scene due to its laggy online play, poor balancing and generic gameplay. However, with the game "Arms," that could very well be changed. It just might be the fighting game Nintendo really needs in ESport tournaments, similar to the success of "Super Smash Bros."
