Last May 2016 saw the reveal of "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3" via a teaser trailer from Relic Entertainment. Since then, fans have been scooping up every piece of information the developers have had to offer. To be fair, there's been a fair amount of gameplay, trailers, and screenshots to mine information from. Here's a list of what we know so far: confirmed units, in-game features, potential release date, and more.
No Heroes, No Villains
Right off the bat, the Dawn of War website informs us that "Dawn of War 3" missions is a three-faction campaign where players will "learn the combat advantages of Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar." PC Gamesn reports that players will switch factions throughout the narrative.
Game director Philippe Boulle confirms this in an interview with PC Power Play. "Mission one is Space Marines," he says, "mission two is Orks, mission three is Eldar, mission four is Space Marines." Boulle also mentions how this puts an interesting spin on a very linear campaign structure, where the player knows more than the protagonist.
Dawn of War 3: Release Date and Price
The only thing Relic Entertainment has confirmed so far is that "Dawn of War 3" will be released some time in 2017. An article published by Kotaku revealed a release date of April 30 on Sega's website. It later turned out to be a placeholder, as following the link to Sega reveals "TBC" as Dawn of War 3's release date.
The site has not yet announced a price for the third iteration, but a link via IGN leads to an Amazon preorder page that puts the price at £37.99 (around $47). However, it isn't evident what the retailer is using to base the price on.
Confirmed Unit Types for Space Marines, Eldars
Each faction has Elite Units and Line Units, and the Elite Units have their own sub-units: Super, Hero, and Other.
The Space Marine units may be outnumbered by the Orks, but they're more resilient than the Eldar. According to PC Gamesn, Imperial Knight Solaria is this iteration's confirmed Space Marine Super Unit, with Gabriel Angelos and Jonah Orion as the Hero Unit. Space Marine Elite Units are the Assault Terminators, and the Line Units are the Assault Marines.
The Eldar Units are the strongest of the lot, but aren't so good at taking damage. Their Super Units are the Wraithknight, with Farseer Macha and Jain Zar as the Eldar Hero Units. The Wraithlord and Wraithblade represent the Eldar Elite units. You can check out their abilities and stats here. "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3" will be coming to PC some time in 2017.
