T-Mobile USA unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, T-Mobile Concord, designed for those wishing for a no frills annual contract with the network.

Manufactured by ZTE, the T-Mobile Concord is expected to entice first-time smartphone buyers. The device is equipped with all the necessary features to enable customers to connect with family and friends. The Android-based smartphone will pack the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, ideal for web-browsing, using social networking websites, or accessing Google Maps.

The device will sport a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and will have a 2-megapixel camera. The sleek smartphone will be on offer in the midnight blue color. Unfortunately, the Concord is not a 4G-enabled device.

The Concord will be available to T-Mobile customers through a variety of no annual contract plans starting from $99.99, other than the T-Mobile Monthly4G and Walmart Family Mobile. "Paired with one of T-Mobile's single-line, Monthly4G no annual contract plans, customers have access to unlimited talk, text and worry-free data that doesn't have a hard cap or result in overage fees, as well as access to T-Mobile's nationwide 4G network. The T-Mobile Concord can also be paired with Walmart's Family Mobile service, a monthly, no-annual-contract wireless plan option for individuals or families, also powered by T-Mobile's nationwide network," indicate reports.

Prepaid smartphones customers are not very common in the U.S. when compared to Europe. As more and more customers think of hopping on to the smartphone bandwagon, without being tied to lengthy contracts, are there chances in the future that the number of prepaid mobile customers will increase?
