Game developer Cloud Imperium Games has made it official that "Star Citizen" will see an early launching of the regional servers. This new feature will now arrive via 2.6.1 update set to roll out around Feb. 16.
CIG boss Chris Roberts has confirmed this news via the game's official web page. The developer had previously announced the arrival of regional server feature at the last development timeline update for "Star Citizen", which was initially slated for Patch 2.6.2. However, Roberts informed the game's fans of its early release via 2.6.1 instead.
"Thanks to the great work by the Live Ops, Backend and UI teams, we're moving up the release of the Regional Servers to 2.6.1, so players will be able to choose which server (North America, Europe, or Australia) they join to ensure the best connection possible", Roberts said as quoted by PC Invasion. "Once these are running, we'll be able to run more tests to assess whether more locations will be needed."
So, this is quite a great news for "Star Citizen" aficionados. The 2.6.1 update will be unleashed around February 16, as indicated on the developer's timeline. At the moment, the team is hard at work to polish the game's stability and UI issues.
Basically ,"Star Citizen" 2.6.1 update is divided into three sections, namely Star Marine, Ship Balance / Improvements, Network, UI and Content. This upcoming patch is designed to fix bugs and aid a seamless gaming fun for players.
According to Cloud Imperium Games, players can look forward to see improved experience from these small but important changes. These particularly include some balancing to ship speeds, improvements to grenades in Star Marine and new items to the game's menu.
"Star Citizen" is under development by Cloud Imperium Games for Microsoft Windows and Linux. It is an upcoming space flight simulation title and first person shooter designed by Chris Roberts.
