"Fire Emblem Heroes" is the free-to-play mobile adaptation of the popular GBA game, "Fire Emblem". It launched last week for iOS and Android devices and soon become a hot topic among new players and Fire Emblem veterans.

It looks like the hype doesn't end here. Co-directors Kouhei Maeda and Shingo Matsushita detail what kind of content players can expect post-launch and how often they can expect.

New Stories Twice a Month. According to Game Rant, co-director Maeda spoke to IGN to say they plan to add new stories continually after release, "at a pace of about two a month or one every two weeks." While it's not entirely clear if those stories are actually individual missions or mission sets, constant downloadable content is always a good thing.

Matsushita, on the other hand, reportedly added that Nintendo and developer Intelligent systems are guaranteed to continue support for "Fire Emblem Heroes" as long as there are active consumers to play it.

New Characters, New Skills. Game Spot reports that Maeda followed up on his statement regarding the stories with the promise of new characters and game modes. "We also plan to add things like new characters and skills," he told IGN,."As well as new game modes that go in different directions from the current gameplay."

"Fire Emblem Heroes" has proven itself to be a "true" free-to-play game. It gathers profit via in-app purchases rather than a one-off payment to unlock content. Despite not even being known outside of Japan fifteen years ago, this adaptation of "Fire Emblem" is poised to become a key franchise under Nintendo.

Previous announcements also prove that the developers have big plans for "Fire Emblem Heroes," already announcing the upcoming "Fire Emblem Warriors" slated for release on Nintendo Switch and 3DS. It is said to have a Hyrule Warriors-feel to it, which means veterans of "Fire Emblem" may find the gameplay soothingly familiar.
