"Horizon: Zero Dawn" will be launched after three weeks, specifically on February 28. But before that, Guerilla Games released three behind-the-scenes videos that show how the developers created the stunning game.
The "Horizon: Zero Dawn" teasers showcased promising graphics and amazing gameplay. The visual spectacle naturally excited fans even more with the studio's latest offering.
The first video for "Horizon: Zero Dawn" features the team talking about developing a shooter game titled "Killzone" into an action RPG. Studio co-founder Herman Hulst said that both the games had one element that the studio is good at: intense combat.
VG247 also noted Hulst mentioning that "Horizon: Zero Dawn" is the most ambitious project they have done so far. This is mainly because they had transitioned from one genre to another. "Killzone" was a first-person shooter while "Horizon: Zero Dawn" was an action RPG game. They had to tackle elements that they were less familiar with like telling the story of the game.
The second "Horizon: Zero Dawn" behind-the-scenes video showed how they prepared for the game's story. Apparently, Guerilla Games had to bring in more people to the mix. These included writers and quest designers to form a new group within the studio. This was just another proof that, besides the game's stunning visuals, they also dove into storytelling, believing it has "a central role" in the game.
The last video talked about "Horizon: Zero Dawn's" main character, Aloy. According to WWG, the developers wished that Aloy would be among PS4's iconic characters. Jan Bart Van Beek, the studio art director, revealed that it was hard to design an unforgettable character.
Aloy is from a tribe known as Nora and is a machine hunter for them. They had strong objections against the machines that now run the world. Aloy is described as a curious and determined character who wants to unveil her origins. Fans will get to see whether Aloy gets on the list of best PS4 characters when "Horizon: Zero Dawn" comes out in February 28.
