As fans wait for "The Winds of Winter", they can at least have a look at author George RR Martin's "Game of Thrones" new short story. It was announced that it would be released on October 10, as part of a collection called "Book of Swords", which is edited by Gardner Dozois. Martin has apparently shared the short story's title and unveiled the synopsis in his blog.
The story will be titled "The Sons of the Dragon" as per the 68-year old author's announcement. According to him, people who have enjoyed "The Rogue Prince in Rogues" and "The Princess and the Queen in Dangerous Women" would much likely have an interest on the aforementioned story as well. He adds that it is about history rather than a traditional narrative and more of telling with only a little showing, which he says opposite of what he does in his novels.
Moreover, he said that people would be able enjoy his new short story especially for those who are fascinated by the politics of Westeros. Additionally, "The Sons of the Dragon" narrates the reigns of the second and third Targaryen kings, Maegor the Cruel and Aenys I, alongside their wives, mothers, sisters, children, allies, rivals and enemies, according to Express.
Although "The Sons of the Dragon" would not be set in the same timeline as the "Game of Thrones" TV series, it will be set instead in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" universe. Martin was reportedly dismayed that the news about the short story has broken earlier than expected.
The news has been broken from other sources and the internet had been slewed with a lot of speculations, false reports and misinformation. With this, it made him think and eventually talk about it to set the record straight.
