In the world of "Supernatural," angels aren't exactly painted the way the world knows them to be. Castiel, for one, has a side nobody wants to see. This season will have more of that, according to "Supernatural" season 12 stars themselves, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins.

Castiel's time with the Winchesters had caused him to become more and more human, to the point where he literally killed a reaper to save Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles and their mother Mary (Samantha Smith). The "Supernatural" season 12 winter premiere, "First Blood," was quite gnarly, but Cas has once again proved he is, and has always been, for Team Winchester.

This week's "Supernatural" season 12 episode will reveal Castiel's mysterious past, when Lily Sunder (Alicia Witt) steeps herself in black magic and refines her powers for over a century. Alicia will exact revenge on the angels that murdered her family anytime she can and her next victim is no other than Cas.

In an interview with Nerdist, the stars of "Supernatural" season 12 revealed some details on what's to come this season. "We're seeing the earliest version of Cas to date, which is interesting to say the least. I think it's interesting for him to rehash old memories," Collins said.

"You also get a glimpse of what Cas was like before," Ackles told the publication, with Padalecki adding that this season will Cas before he was "humanized." According to the stars, "Supernatural" season 12 episode 10, titled "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets," will show fans a side of Cas TV has never seen before.

"Supernatural" season 12 is chockfull of Cas-centric highlights for fans, as angels have turned against each other. Witt reveals it won't be just Cas her character will be fighting, as the actress will share some scenes with Sam and Dean as well, involving different kinds of weapons. "Supernatural" airs Thursdays on The CW.
