Since news of the casting calls for the reboot of "Friday the 13th" was released, details on the 2017 movie are being released as well. Fans also now know who will create Jason's iconic hockey mask.
Friday the 13th Franchise reported that Legacy Effects will be responsible for creating the villain's hockey mask. They're also responsible for creating other props for the "Friday the 13th" reboot film, along with its special effects.
The company is apparently basing the new mask on the one that appeared on "Friday the 13th Part 3." Fans are not worried about the results, seeing as the company has a great track record in Hollywood.
According to Dread Central, this is not the first time Platinum Dunes and Legacy Effects will be working together. Before "Friday the 13th," the two have collaborated for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," so they are rather familiar with each others' style.
The "Friday the 13th" reboot film will start shooting in March 19, with the goal to wrap up by May 4. As of this writing, the movie is tentatively titled "Friday the 13th Part 13."
As reported previously, casting calls have been made for the young Jason Voorhees. However, fans are more excited for the first-ever appearance of the famed killer's father, Elias Voorhees, with another casting call made for him.
Apparently, the reboot of "Friday the 13th" will focus on the origin of the deadly Jason. The comics version of Jason's story was rather different, as Jason and his mother Pamela were abused by Elias. However, the movie essentially tells that Jason always had something different going on with his father, who had sensed earlier that he is different.
The "Friday the 13th" movie is directed by Breck Eisner ("The Crazies," "The Last Witch Hunter") with a script from Aaron Guzikowski ("Prisoners," "Contraband"). It is slated for release in October 13.
