It's only been a few days since leaked images of a nano-SIM tray for the next-gen iPhone 5 surfaced on the Internet. French site Nowhereelse.fr has bettered its previous find by posting new images of purported iPhone 5 parts. The photo leaks appear to validate the perennial iPhone 5 rumors.
The leaked images have emerged courtesy Chinese forum iColorOS , which since has gone offline, and show the supposed back shielding for the hypothesized Apple smartphone .
The images give us yet another peek into the nano-SIM tray. With the iPhone 5, Apple had transitioned from normal SIM cards to micro-SIMs, enabling the Cupertino tech titan to pinch precious space within the tightly packed smartphone. The nano-SIM is thinner and 40 percent smaller than the micro-SIM, making it a more viable and compact option for Apple's 4-inch iPhone 5. With its iPhone 5 Apple is expected to throw the gauntlet to smartphone rivals like Samsung and HTC.
Other parts of the iPhone 5 that can be glimpsed from the photographs include a larger screen, protective glass cover, home buttons, internal sensors, component connectors, and what appears to be the rear part of the phone.
However, the rumored smaller dock connector is noticeably absent in the images. Recent speculations had affirmed that the dock connector would be a 9-pin one. In addition to the missing connector, the images also do not support previous leak assertions that the headphone jack would be relocated to the bottom of the smartphone.
The spate of Apple leaks is par the course for the company. On July 29, Japanese repair site iLab had released several images of the fabled iPhone 5, which showcased a fully-assembled device.
The current as well as previous photo leaks appear to give credence to the assumption that production for the iPhone 5 is already underway.
