Rumors indicate that the first ever Android smartphone has been upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

A video posted by a hacker on the XDA Developers forum shows the Android smartphone, T-Mobile's G1 (made by HTC) operating on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The video shows that the hacker has successfully integrated the old phone with the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

Definitely not a legitimate update, but the hacker has been able to use features like Google Now on the phone. However, the hacker also says that post the update functions like 3G connectivity have been rendered useless. The video exhibits that the HTC phone does not work seamlessly with Jelly Bean. Despite the niggling functionality issues, HTC users need not worry about sticking to the ICS and can still upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 when it is officially rolled out.

Earlier this year, Google released Android's 4.1 version - Jelly Bean. The Jelly Bean version is an update to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) mobile phone and tablet operating system. Jelly Bean was initially used on Google Nexus 7 tablets and has started to rollout updates to Samsung Nexus S handsets. Users of smartphones, which are running on ICS, are eagerly waiting for the Jelly Bean 4.1 to be made available on their smartphone.

"We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates about device upgrades, timings and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean," said HTC, according to an ITProPortal report.
