Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphone is probably the hottest device around, with 10 million pre-orders for its May 29 launch. For users new to Sprint, the S3 can be bought for less than $100.
Heading to AmazonWireless reveals the deal for new Sprint customers - $99.99. The site offers the 16GB Pebble Blue version (no white color in sight), with free 2-day shipping. Upgrading customers or those adding a new line to their accounts will have to pay $149.99. The device is available for $200 from Sprint directly. Neither Amazon nor Sprint has indicated how long the $99.99 deal will last.
However, taking the Amazon deal requires customers to commit to 2-year contracts. With Google perhaps unveiling a new Nexus smartphone in 2012, two iPhone releases expected by 2013, and a whole new range of Windows Phone 8 devices due on the market at the end of 2012, and a wealth of of new devices from Android original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), consumers will have plenty of choices. Ultimately, the decision comes down to whether customers see the Galaxy S3 as the leading phone currently and are comfortable committing to a 2-year contact.
Sprint rivals Verizon and AT&T are both retailing the phone directly for $199.99 on a 2-year contract. Mobilenapps.com also covered the main carriers' deals around launch.
Contract-free, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is available for $589.99.
