Speaktoit revealed to Mobile & Apps that its voice recognition service - Speaktoit Assistant - arrives on Windows Phone and is also available on Android and iOS. Speaktoit Assistant is the highest rated virtual assistant service on Google Play, the Android app store.

The voice assistant can get maps, news, images, weather reports, convert currency and measurements, send e-mail, and "much more" according to the product page. Speaktoit claims that the service will recognize "everyday language," a criticism against Apple's Siri.

Even though Apple created a personality for Siri, despite no physical appearance, the 'problem' is solved in Speaktoit Assistant. Four avatars are available: 2 girls, a "handsome agent," and an older professor.

The New York Times put the app in its top 10 list of Android apps from 2011, citing task-execution and capabilities as a voice assistant as positives.

"She's free, she works most of the time, and she brings a taste of the new virtual-minion world to the million of Android phones," The New York Times said. Computerworld reported the app is "easy and fun to use," while NBC claimed the app is "doing many of the things Apple's Siri is just starting to offer". As an alternative to Siri, Assistant seems like a solid choice.

Siri may not be pitch perfect when it comes to delivering results, but the presentation is solid. Google opted for displaying results in real-time, while Siri brings up results in a card. The Speaktoit Assistant displays the avatar, with the search results below. Apple's 3.5-inch display size with the iPhone 4S probably helped to prioritize information; Siri didn't launch on the iPad initially.

The voice asistant is now available for download, as a free app for the first 10,000 downloads. However, it only supports Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and higher. The app will retail for $0.99 after the first 10,000 downloads and is free on Google Play.

The app has a five-out-of-five star rating on Google Play, with over 60,000 user ratings. The latest Android update brought the ability to shake the device to start the voice assistant and Yelp integrations to search for nearby places.
