The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first downloadable content pack (DLC), Dawnguard, brought the Vampire Lord and the ability to become a werewolf (if being a vampire isn't attractive). A 2011 "Game Jam" inside Bethesda spawned the ideas - a week-long period for creating potential ideas.

The video showing the content has gone live. It's improbable that Dawnguard will be the first and only DLC pack for Skyrim, so what features could be taken from the Game Jam for a second DLC pack?

Stealth enhancements: "Assassin's Vision" and Water Arrows

Sneaking around in Skyrim is a difficult but rewarding process; so, what if players could see in the dark? Assassin's Vision is a feature created during the Game Jam, loosely similar to the Detective Mode in Batman: Arkham Asylum and City. It highlights important objects in the world, like guards.

Water arrows are also featured. It's difficult to see the purpose of water arrows, but what about ice or light arrows? Oh right, Bethesda showed the features too.

Dungeon Enhancements: Hanging Structures, Moving Platforms

Dungeons in Skyrim are about exploration, opening chests, and taking items until the character is encumbered. Skyrim isn't known for its emphasis on platforming, but what about being able to move platforms by hitting switches? It would bring a bit of variety to dungeons, rather than moving across rooms and killing enemies.

Dark Dungeons

Continuing with the dungeon theme, dark dungeons appeared in the Game Jam. It could be the kind of terrifying experience, and variety, befitting Skyrim. Perhaps switches could temporarily light the dungeons.

Follower Commands

Want to stand back while sending a follower to kill a dragon? Hope follower commands enter Skyrim. The feature supported combat style, training, distance, equipment, and features not specified. Favorites can be set for followers also, for example with armor.

Build homes, Minecraft Style

If there's a task Minecraft players have to do, it's build a home. Creating homes in Skyrim? Not an obvious addition, but it showed up in the Game Jam. How to build a home didn't get specified, but the skeletal butler - hopefully with Michael Cain's voice - is a feature seller.

Waygate Fast Travel: Please Bethesda

Searching through locations on the map to find a discovered area, to fast travel to, can be a pain. Walking/running/riding horses through Skyrim is enjoyable, but players may just want to travel to the quest start. So what happens if a location close to the quest market hasn't been discovered? Say hello to Waygates, a fast-travel portal that players can walk into to get instantly transported.

Hopefully, Game Jams will go beyond a proof-of-concept session. Dragons as mounts sounds cool, right? For the video of Game Jam ideas, watch the clip below.
