"Deadpool" was a blockbuster hit when it screened in 2016, and early in January this year, it was confirmed that a sequel is in the works. However, fans of the first movie were even more excited to find out that the reliable cab driver Dopinder will also be returning in "Deadpool 2."

According to Nerdist, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, "Deadpool's" screenwriters, recently took part in a "special Facebook Live Q&A." While they both revealed that the script for the sequel is still unfinished, fans were assured that Karan Soni ("Safety Not Guaranteed," "Goosebumps"), the actor who portrays Deadpool's cab driver Dopinder, will be back for "Deadpool 2."

Wenick said, "I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I love that relationship and I love that character. And he'll be in the sequel." In 2015's "Deadpool," Dopinder was the "merc with a mouth's" cab driver on two separate occasions.

While Deadpool didn't have money to pay for his cab fare (twice!) Dopinder graciously accepted his alternate form of "payment," a high-five. Despite his bizarre antics, Deadpool showed kindness to Dopinder when the latter seemed to have lady problems. The anti-hero gave Dopinder advice, and his solution to the cab driver's dilemma had unexpected results near the climax of the film.

In other news, Screen Rant has posited that in "Deadpool 2," viewers will finally find out what happened to Dopinder, his lady love, and his cousin Bandhu. Both Reese and Wernick even teased fans who took part in the Facebook Live Q&A that since Dopinder was such a hit with moviegoers, he might be "getting his own spinoff movie."

Reese and Wernick's irreverent and hilarious script was a big part of "Deadpool's" success, and the scenes between Deadpool and Dopinder "were exemplary of the title character's knack for comic interplay between himself and the other people he meets and interacts with throughout the movie."
