Motorola has finally revealed Motorola Atrix HD, which will hit AT&T stores on July 15. The smartphone market is witnessing a cut throat competition where every player is trying to introduce an innovative product, to keep itself ahead in the race. Motorola is also joining the bandwagon of these players by introducing Atrix HD, the successor to Atrix clan.
The Google-owned smartphone maker touts the USP of its smartphone is the 4.5-inch HD display with ColorBoost, which is the highest resolution smartphone display in the market. Rumour has it that Atrix HD will comprise a 720 x 1280 pixels display and a 331 ppi (pixels per inch) pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against scratches. The phone will be supported by AT&T's 4G LTE network.
Atrix HD may be carrying a price tag of $99.99 with a 2-year contract but it's no pushover. A peek inside its glossy body will reveal a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip clocked at 1.5 GHz and 1GB of RAM. The OS is Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich.
The camera enthusiasts will also get enough to fulfil their fantasies. An 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording at 30 FPS (frames per second) and a front-facing 720p HD camera is enough to fulfil your clicking cravings.
The Atrix HD will come pre-loaded with Motorola's Circle Widget that will help users connect directly to their information about their AT&T account details and other small details such as notifications, time and battery meter.
The device will also be loaded with an app - SmartActions - that will change the phone's setting as per its usage. Let's suppose if the phone is put in the vehicle navigation dock and is set to Drive Smart, it will switch to vehicle mode and will read the received messages. There is also a limited period offer for first few lucky clients, who will get a free vehicle dock with the phone purchase.
To make the phone robust and sturdy, Motorola has fabricated its new baby with DuPoint Kevlar fiber on the back, a splash guard coating on the outer shell and the electrical circuit boards inside that help keep it water-proof.
The only downside is that the battery might be a tad weak since the capacity of 1780mAh is less than the standard 2000mAh batteries that are present in most smartphones today.
The Atrix HD will ship with only 8GB of included storage and at a price of $99.99 (on a 2-year contract, of course). There is also an option of expanding the memory with SD Card Slot. A good deal, considering the price point.
