The Bethesda Softworks' "Doom" is one of today's popular and high rated game. Just recently, this game tops the chart of Polygon as 2016 Game of the Year.

The Polygon chooses ten of the most amazing games yearly. This time, the Bethesda's first-person shooter game, "Doom," was chosen to be hold the title for 2016.

On their site, they cited why they picked "Doom" as the Game of the Year awardee. "For Polygon, what Doom accomplished exceeds its deficiencies by such a margin as to still make the top of our charts," Christopher Grant said.

Polygon chooses their Game of the Year according to their own criteria. All staff members can nominate as many games as they want, then all nominated games will be played by everyone to check, criticize, examine and see why these games to are on the list. After playing all the nominated games, voting will occur next. Staff members vote for one game they think is the best among all the nominees.

Many gamers and sites are already considering the "Doom" as the year's best first-shooter game. One of these sites is GameRant, which released a report saying the Bethesda's game could actually be the best first-shooter game of the year.

"Doom" 2016 initial release date was on May 2016. The game is under the game series "Doom" which was first released in 1993.

The "Doom" franchise has been handled by several publishers since it was first released in 1993. GT Interactive is the very first publisher of the title, followed by Activision. Now, since 2010, the title's publisher is Bethesda Softworks.
