Metallica's new full-length album "Hardwired To Self-Destruct", was released back on November 18, last year. Despite the short two month span it had to perform in 2016, the album was able to sell more than 516,000 copies in U.S. alone. The latest album took 8 years to come out after the band had released its Album "Death Magnetic." However, Bassist of the band Rob Trujillo believes that Metallica will roll out another album pretty soon.

Unlike most of the present day bands who make up music just for the financial benefits behind it, Metallica is amongst the very few who make the journey a purely artistic one. The band's 'Black Album', which was released back in 1991, was the third most selling metal album of 2016. "Hardwired to Self-Destruct" was, of course, the first, selling 516,000 copies in 2016. Even if Metallica hadn't rolled out the new album, the band would have earned infinite money just by selling its earlier albums.

Metallica's Bassist Rob Trujillo recently gave an interview to 104.9, the Wolf, in which he stated the reason why it took the band 8 years to roll out "Hardwired to Self-Destruct". The reasons he gave were very genuine as well, from having five babies to completing a film 'Through The Never'. The bassist also stated that although at their age it becomes hard to perform among the audience, the band members like challenging themselves.

When asked about the next album's release date, Metallica's bassist made it clear that he won't personally let the next album take 8 years. While the band doesn't need to roll out a new album every year, they love to make music and that accounts for the immense success of its albums. It's quite interesting to note that among the top 10 highest selling metal albums of 2016, five belonged to Metallica.
