Instagram started in 2010 but until now, the hype over the photo-sharing app is not decreasing. Despite many competitors, it has still claimed the spot to one of the best social media networks nowadays. Snapchat, on the other hand, has almost taken the place with over 300 million active users worldwide.

But then again, Instagram has over 600 million active users and has proven to be the best, especially when it comes to posting real marketing. Indeed, Snapchat has become a hit and Fortune even reported about Facebook trying to buy it for $3 billion but failing to acquire the said social media. However, the excitement of using this app seems to be declining as news are reporting more of Instagram updates rather than Snapchat. In short, Instagram has taken more of the social media spotlight especially in 2016.

Snapchat has loaded itself with testing several ads and playing with Spectacles while Instagram, on the other hand, has revealed many features and changes. However, these alterations have made Instagrammers thinks of it as a bad idea but later on realized that it can cash in big money. The changes, such as its successful shift with algorithm-driven feed, has made users apprehend that they enjoy seeing more of the most relevant feed (via Entrepreneur).

There are various results coming from the several updates like Business Pages, Live Videos, and Stories. Instagram has also worked on providing the safest place for expressing one's self. It has also caught the attention of many entrepreneurs and the perfect examples are those who are into food-related business. By sharing the photos and videos of their food in the most artistic way, the number of potential consumers is increasing. Furthermore, it has expanded its demographics as they now have users from 18 to 60-years-old.

Therefore, the year 2016 has become a very successful one not only to Instagram itself but also to its users. For now, it is guaranteed that Instagram is not slowing down in terms of market growth. Hopefully, it will continue to thrive in the coming years.
