The Nintendo 64 cult classic "Pokemon Snap" will now be available for the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console in North America. The game was first available in Japan in April 2016 and in Europe in August. The game is known as the Pokemon photography spinoff which is a first-person rail shooter and simulation video game co-developed by HAL Laboratory and Pax Sofnica.

"Pokemon Snap" was originally released for the Nintendo 64 back in 1999 which has a very unique concept from any other series. Here, players are given tasks by taking photos of the Pokemon instead of catching them with a Pokeball. The Verge reported that the game takes place in the Pokemon Safari where players have to shoot photos of up to 63 different Pokemons like the popular creatures Pikachu and Jigglypuff.

In the "Pokemon Snap", the players can go into a safari and take photos of a certain Pokemon which they are required to show and give to Professor Oak. Professor Oak will then judge the snapped Pokemon based on the things like the size and the number of creatures in the photograph.

The classic game also became an inspiration to the current Pokemon game for the Nintendo 3DS the "Pokemon Sun and Moon," which is now using the Poke Finder for players to take photos of a certain Pokemon. These photos are then uploaded by players to get NPC likes and comments. This game play can also be seen and executed the hit mobile game from Niantic, the "Pokemon Go" where the players can take a snap of the Pokemon they have encountered.

Aside from the classic "Pokemon Snap" coming to Wii U, the "Mario Kart" 64 was also announced to be available on the Wii U. Also, this may be related to the fact that Nintendo Switch will be out in March. The game will also support the GamePad and Pro Controller and will cost $10.
