The narrative first-person adventure game from Campo Santo was just released last February, but it has done very well since its launch into the gaming market. The developer officially announced on social media that the game had passed its one-million milestone late last year.

"Sometime late last year, we sold our one millionth copy of 'Firewatch,'" read Campo Santo's post on Twitter. "Thank you all so much!"

The game has been getting a lot of attention because of its script, partnered with its realistic tone. "Firewatch" has an appeal that separates it from other 1st-person games in today's gaming industry.

Chris Livingston of PC Gamer shared that he was so "invested in the story and characters." He added that even its simple text-based prompts are "emotionally powerful." The game has gotten a lot of praise from analysts and gamers, alike, that it got five nods at the upcoming 17th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards.

This year's GDC Awards will be on March 1, 2017 and will be held at the San Francisco Moscone Center. According to gamesindustry.biz, "Firewatch" was nominated for Best Visual Art, Best Debut, Innovation Award, Best Narrative, and Game of the Year.

Another that also got five nominations is a team-based multi-player 1st-person shooter called "Overwatch." Blizzard Entertainment's entry into the 17th Annual GDC Awards was nominated for Best Technology, Best Visual Art, Best Design, Best Audio, and Game of the Year.

Campo Santo's debut indie game sold very well that Limited Run Games was quick to agree to team up for its physical versions. The disc for the PlayStation 4 -- which comes with a full-sized foldout replica of the in-game park map -- is limited to only 7,300 copies worldwide. Out of that total, only 4,800 discs can be purchased with Limited Run. The rest will have to be purchased through Campo Santo's online store starting January 16.
