"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 spoilers reveal that there was a hint on the latest episode of The CW series that Katherine Pierce will be returning. According to Screener, when Georgie was dragged into the darkness, many fans took notice that it was somewhat similar to the way Katherine disappeared in Season 5.
Executive producer Caroline Dries explained back then that Katherine was "going to a dark world." This means that in "TVD" Season 8, fans and viewers may see the return of Katherine, as this dark world seems to be the same as where Georgie is and where Cade came from.
There has been a lot of requests to bring in Nina Dobrev back in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 since it will be the series finale. Doing so will also help provide closure to her character, Katherine, aside from the most requested "Delena" reunion.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 spoilers from Carter Matt also reveal that in the episode titled "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Tough," Bonnie will be returning with a vial of Enzo's blood. This means that Bonnie will be choosing between transforming as a vampire or keeping things the way they are.
Since Bonnie's life is tied to Elena's fate, many fans are expecting that Bonnie will die in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Series creator Julie Plec also teased in previous interviews that a major character will die in the series finale of The CW drama.
