Mariah Carey was supposed to open the new year with a blast. She did; although it wasn't what Times Square was expecting. The "Emotions" singer's management has accused the production team of sabotaging the performance but the producers have denied the allegations.

What Happened, According to Stella Bulochnikov

Stella Bulochnikov, Carey's manager, sat down with Entertainment Weekly and explained what went down before the failed performance of one of the most-awarded entertainers in the music industry. In her account, she Bulochnikov first clarified that Mariah Carey did not skip any of the rehearsals and she arrived at the site early.

Bulochnikov said she informed the team that the sound coming from Mariah Carey's in-ears and ear-pack were "choppy" and they told her that the Grammy awardee would be given a new set before the performance. Carey was given her in-ears, mic, and ear pack about 10 minutes before she was to go live. The pack didn't work so she was handed a new one. However, the third pack was also "dead." The batteries were changed but Mariah Carey still couldn't hear anything.

According to Bulochnikov, a stage manager told them that the pack will work once the singer goes on stage. The last thing they know, Mariah Carey is on stage and her mic and ear pack did not work.

After the chaotic NYE event, Carey is just "ignoring" everything, Bulochnikov explained. The "Hero" singer has yet to speak out personally about the issue.

What Dick Clark Productions Has to Say

The third-party production company that worked alongside Mariah Carey for the "viral" performance has since responded to Stella Bulochnikov's allegations. According to The Telegraph, the company called the claims "defamatory, outrageous, and frankly absurd."

Dick Clark Productions went on to state that the team has the "utmost respect for Mariah Carey" and it is acknowledging the massive accomplishments that she has reaped throughout her run in the industry. Stella Bulochnikov has yet to respond to the company's statements.

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve event was live for thousands of fans who graced Times Square, but it was broadcast by ABC for the millions who watched back home. Ryan Seacrest hosted the event and Mariah Carey was chosen to headline the affair.
