Young auto manufacturer Fiat Chrysler is prepping to unveil its Portal concept car with the futuristic idea of autonomous driving. The Portal will be showcased during this year's CES event, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to Tech Crunch, the Fiat Chrysler Portal has its own wireless network that features a semi-autonomy standard set at Level 3. The great thing about the upcoming automobile is, it comes with the hardware that consumers will need to upgrade their vehicles into the Level 4 autonomous driving capability that a lot of auto enthusiasts are interested in these days.

The Fiat Chrysler Portal stands out among other vehicles coming this year. It features LED lights on the side and rear panels and on the front lights. The LED lights can be changed in various colors for consumers who have preferences in terms of hues. The huge sliding doors of the Portal are also illuminated to help the owner know where to enter and exit.

The Environment-Friendly Portal

One of the biggest breakthroughs in the FCA is the decision to pursue environmentally friendly vehicles. The Fiat Chrysler Portal features interiors of synthetic leather which have been manufactured without animal hides.

Electric-Powered Auto Claims to Reach Over 250 Miles

FCA has claimed that the Fiat Chrysler Portal has the capacity to reach over 250 miles. The minivan is also powered with a quick charging system that can allow consumers to recover around 150 miles of reach within just 20 minutes of charging.

While a lot of auto enthusiasts are hyped up for the concept minivan, an analyst has commented on FCA's concept electric car last month. According to Bloomberg, Dan Luria, a Michigan Manufacturing Technology Institute analyst said in December that the Fiat Chrysler Portal is an attempt to alter the issue of not being able to "meet the standards." Luria added that the concept car is "not a seriously competitive vehicle."

The manufacturer has not yet given any information about how the development for the Fiat Chrysler Portal is progressing. On the other hand, more details may be revealed at CES 2017.
