Retina display-powered MacBook Pro is one of the finest and expensive laptop available in the market. High resolutions IPS Display make it stand in a different league than rival laptops. However, ghosting issue, otherwise known as image persistence, has hit the so-called "Retina Display".
Apple Community Forum is lit up with discussions related to the image persistence issue in MacBook Pro with Retina display. The problem includes formation of a ghost image on the top of main image. The ghost image is a faded image of a program that users already quit after running for short time. The ghosting effect is easily noticeable on light colored backgrounds.
"I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds," a user complained on Apple Discussions Forum.
"The problem occurs in as little as 20 minutes; close the window and the desktop is left with a latent image; a ghost image of whatever text or graphic was in the window left on screen," said another MacBook Pro user.
Image persistence is a major issue in IPS display panels. In case of MacBook Pro, the impact ratio of image persistence problem is limited. Nevertheless, the issue is frustrating, especially for a device whose price starts at $2,199.
Apple's 14-day return policy will come handy for MacBook Pro owner whose devices have been affected by the issue. In case you are also facing this problem, triggering Apple's 14-day "no questions asked" refund policy, the MacBook Pro could be returned to Apple.
Meanwhile, folks at Apple Insider have posted a video showing the temporary screen burn-in issue in Retina MacBook Pro.
