"Devil's Third" online play has already been shut down. This was after it was announced by Nintendo last June that they will be discontinuing the services for the said game. The online services for the said game, which partly has multiplayer servers running for Valhalla Game Studios' Wii U shooter, is now put to rest.

"Devil's Third" Shutdown. It can be recalled that Nintendo released a statement last June about the halting of operations for the said game. Players will receive a notification upon logging into the game portal. The said portal will show a message telling the players that the game is under maintenance and that the game cannot be launched. In verbatim, here is what was said on the screen: "Now preparing for maintenance. New battles cannot be launched."

"Devil's Third" was launched in North America December last year via Wii U. It was then released for online play on August 28, 2015 in Europe while PC version of Devil's Third Online in Japan is still set to be scheduled this year. It is still available and will be released globally.

Devil's Third attempted to make it but never really propelled to the top. It did not stand a chance to its contemporaries and the game has one of the most problematic game developments in a long while. The final result of the game was definitely anti-climactic, which put it in a deeper pit.

After it was initially released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC - it was moved to Wii U as an exclusive game for the gadget. This awkward movement is an indicator that it was a bit of a silo even before it was launched. The departure of the game from Nintendo has definitely put on for the platform.

Developer of Devil's Third, Tomonobu Itagaki, explained that Nintendo has decided to release the said game due to the reason that "they do not have sufficient strong online games at that moment." Additionally, the famed game developer said that it was not "a game that Nintendo can develop inside their system so we came in as the people who can make a strong online game and turn it into a reality."

However, that was not what happened as the "strong online game" made it only over a year upon its release. The game is now shutting down all its online multiplayer servers for good. There are rumors of a free version coming but it will not be available for all gadgets.

According to sources, free-to-play version will be available in PC however, given the struggles of the game in its development phase and on top of that, its weak reception from gamers internationally, this might be the end for the Itagaki's brainchild. For those who are not yet familiar with the game, here is a preview of its release in 2014:
