Lenovo is opening its CES party earlier than scheduled by announcing new and upgraded ThinkPad X270. The 2017 Thinkpad X270 delivers up to 20 hours of battery life and offers a touch screen option.
Contrasting other 12-inch notebooks, like the MacBook, the latest Lenovo Thinkpad X270 has all the ports packed in a small form factor with a 12-inch display. It has Full HD, Full HD Touch, and HD options. This laptop is has a DDR4 memory of up to 16 GB together with 1TB of SSD or 2GB of hard-drive storage. The only detail about its audio at this time is that it comes through Dolby.
Lenovo Thinkpad X270 is a slim laptop with a 20.3mm thickness and overall 2.9lbs weight. It has numerous ports and connectivity options and contains a smart card reader, plus an optional NFC. Moreover, it has an audio combo jack, HDMI, Ethernet, USB-C, two USB 3.0 ports and one always-on USB 3.0 port, and a and a SIM slot. It can take photos and videos through its webcam with a 720p resolution. PCWorld reported that it would be available in March 2017 starting at $909 with 1366 x 768-pixel non-touch screen.
Lenovo Thinkpad X270's battery is a 23Wh cell existent in the front and an option to install either a 48Wh or 72Wh at the rear side of the notebook. This is the company's dual-battery configuration. Lenovo claims that an approximately 21.4 hours of battery life can be availed upon installing the 72Wh rear battery.
The new Lenovo Thinkpad X270 will run on Kaby Lake, the latest architecture for Intel's Core processor. Furthermore, it will get updated authentications, such as support for Windows Hello and a facial recognition feature that utilizes an infrared camera. In addition, it will have biometric matching on the fingerprint sensor, as well as firmware for fingerprint matching. These features were added to the machines somehow for the Europian market where security requirements are stricter, says The Verge.
