The Apple Mac Mini 2017 has taken a backseat. In fact, the entire Mac Mini line of products seems to have taken a backseat. Dwindling numbers are a problem for the device now and many tech enthusiasts believe that the 2017 device will be the last of its line. Once, the product Mac Mini was considered an engineering marvel with many other industry players drawing inspiration from the device.

The Mac Mini was last updated in 2014 and since then fans have eagerly waited for the next installment but only in vain. It's nearly 2017 and no sign of a Mac Mini 2017. As per rumors, the device will sport the highly-anticipated Intel Kaby Lake processor with the same dual-core setup that was previously immensely criticized. The only hope lies on the Kaby Lake chipsets as they are expected to boost device performance manifold.

However, in terms of multi-core processing, a quad core processor is better any day than a dual core chip. It is too late perhaps to expect Apple Mac Mini 2017 to come with a quad core setup. Even though Apple has stated that it has great plans for its Mac line of products, the Mac Mini seems to be totally forgotten or people may have simply lost interest. When compared to the 2012 Mac Mini, the 2014 successor couldn't satisfy customers greatly.

It was criticized for its sub-par performance and this is mostly because of Apple's decision to downgrade the Mac Mini 2014 from quad cores to dual cores, writes The Bitbag. Apple cannot blame customers for not buying the Mac Mini. It was the Cupertino company's fault for not keeping the device as great as it was first released in 2005. The Apple Mac Mini 2017 could be the last of its line and it will be heartbreaking for many to see their favorite device bid adieu.
