Your iPhone is not just a device to capture the best moments of your everyday life, as well as your trips and travels. Make your brand new toy even better with one or two of these iOs apps.

Siri & Apple Maps / Google Maps

What's good about the iPhone is that you don't get to settle for Siri alone (albeit her undeniable efficiency). As Apple Insider notes, Apple's iconography and transit directions are much better.

However, Google Maps' massive Street View coverage offers the best functionality, especially if you are in an unfamiliar place. Switching between iPhone's Apple Maps and Google Maps will prove convenient for a traveler and are a good combo navigation-wise.

TripIt

TripIt is a one-stop-app that has the capacity to beat out all the other contenders for the best travel app for the iPhone. Once you've signed up, TripIt converts all your travel data - hotel, cruises, airline and train trips - into an editable itinerary using their app. You simply have to forward booking confirmations to plans@tripit.com. You can buy the Pro version on iTunes for $49 per year, which includes real-time notifications.

Cheatsheet

We all always bring with us a weird little mix of information snippets. From Wi-Fi passwords, the correct dimensions of images we prepare for websites, access codes for doors, and the list goes on. Break carrying them with you in your head or decorating your Mac with scrawled Post-it notes, and get them into Cheatsheet instead.

This is free, with in-app purchase. This simple but efficient app allows you encode little chunks of info, assign an icon to make it stress-free to recognize, and then have them all exceedingly accessible in a Today widget or on your Watch. Aside from those, the app can act as a keyboard, making it easy to type fragments of information into any document or field just by clicking on them.
