Looks like the huge fan base of Dragon Ball Super are in for a treat as mounting shreds of evidence on several social media platforms, including Twitter, have indicated that the hit Japanese anime television series' latest arc is just around the corner.
The studio behind Dragon Ball Super recently confirmed that the veteran anime franchise is slated to begin a new arc dubbed as Universal Survival arc, bringing back the fan-favorite Son Goku in action. The impending saga warrants a fierce, action-packed adventure through its multiverse martial arts contest.
Shedding more light on the impending arc, Toei Animation (via Saiyan Island) just released the key visual for the Universal Survival arc. The arc is scheduled to debut on Feb. 5, 2017. The studio also teased the upcoming arc via a preview video.
The promo video was first spotted by DBS fans during the Jump Festa via Anime News Network. The 1 minute 12 second-long video showcases an assemblage of every Dragon Ball Super saga since the series first released back in 2015.
Aside from that, the teaser also gives fans a peek at an epic showdown between two of the most powerful characters in the series - Goku and the Omni-King. The battle is expected to be so massive, it will sway all of the universes involved. The teaser further alludes to the multiverse competition as the ultimate tournament as it brings all the Gods of Destruction and Kaioshin under one roof.
A brief synopsis for the Universal Survival arc reveals that at Goku's request, the Omni-King's "Tournament of Power" martial arts competition between universes begins. Regrettably, this also turns out to be the starting point of universal destruction.
Shunki Hashizume, the series' producer pointed out that the saga revolves around Goku and the rest of the Universe 7 fighters as they come together to form an invincible team that will compete in the multiverse tournament. As expected, this stirred conversations among DBS fans, which are now waiting with bated breath for the return of Dragon Ball Super on Feb. 2017.
