Big bad Nintendo is slowly readying itself to launch its next generation console, the Wii-U, which will come before Sony's PlayStation 4 and the Microsoft Xbox 720. On Monday, the company unveiled a new version of the Wii-U Gamepad, which is packing some cool new features that are sure to get fans excited. For gamers, the most exciting addition to the new controller is the dual thumbsticks.

Another new addition that Nintendo is trying to use to separate itself from the pack is NFC (Near Field Communication.) The company plans to use NFC to allow the controller to work as a TV Remote which is no doubt a very good idea. However, how many gamers will end up taking advantage of this feature? Not many we think. Nintendo also plans to use NFC to read and write data from cards along with figures, this means the days of typing in numbers from a card to redeem cash or other digital items could be a thing of the past if Nintendo gets its way.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said in a statement, "Some people will wonder if Wii U is a simple evolution of Wii or something entirely different, I think maybe the correct answer is both."

The new Wii-U controller is not the only thing Nintendo showed off on Monday. The company proved it won't be leaving traditional gamers behind, and so it showed off another controller. This controller is of the traditional variety called the Wii-U Pro, no touch screen and no new learning curve, just strictly jump in and play to your heart's content.

Want more? Nintendo's E3 conference begins later this week, expect information on price and availability of the Wii-U, along with some new gamers and how the device plans to communicate with the 3DS.
